OUR STORY

Will Cook got his start tutoring through Montgomery College, first working with students ranging from high school students completing college credits to adults in their sixties going back for their third degree. While completing an associate degree in mathematics, Will began tutoring privately, helping middle school students master solving equations. When the pandemic began, Will seamlessly transitioned to virtual tutoring, and applied the same teaching methods he had honed working in person. Years later, Will Cook Tutors provides tailored math tutoring to dozens of students across the country. Will Cook Tutors now offers spoken word poetry courses!

The key to our approach is simple. “I make math make sense” means it’s the tutor’s job to find a novel way to explain each concept without ego. We use positive language and assure every student that there is no shame in getting a question wrong: it’s an opportunity to see why the right approach makes our lives easier. Time and time again, students have joined our program in the 2nd or 3rd quarter with low grades and see a full letter grade increase within weeks of beginning tutoring.
